WHAT TRENDS CAN WE EXPECT FOR WEDDING GROOM’S ATTIRE IN 2024? PART ONE: COLOURS

Ferala Team

We have already mentioned the coming trends of fresh and bold colours after Covid. Men were searching for more interesting solutions for their wedding suits as if they wanted to forget about the dark times of the pandemic and be able to fully celebrate this special day. In the past, purchasing a tailored suit was also dictated by practical considerations and our clients often chose shades that were then suitable for work. We have been observing the opposite trend for several years - men like to choose something unique, they want to stand out and allow themselves to be extravagant because, after all, it is their wedding. Let us see what trends we can observe for 2024.

Following the spirit of extravagance, colours will reign supreme in the new season. Green has been very popular for two years, but the shades are changing. We started with dark bottle green. This season, lighter, more pastel colours such as eucalyptus or sage green will be popular.

Another colour that will be present during summer weddings for a long time will be terracotta with all its shades. This colour is often chosen for bohemian style weddings. It is associated with nature, sun and warmth. A terracotta-coloured jacket looks great with ecru pants to break up this set with a more elegant colour.

Sky blue is another colour often chosen for weddings. Men who want to wear a fabric other than navy blue but are afraid of colours such as green or orange, turn to sky blue as a safer option. Light blue is elegant, especially in the case of a three-piece suit, and at the same time it will stand out. An interesting solution will be a double-breasted jacket; with a well-tailored suit, the whole ensemble will look neat and very ceremonial.

Light beige has reigned supreme for 3 years now and we do not expect this trend to reverse. This colour is perfect for summer suits and blends such as wool, linen and silk, so it is suitable for high temperatures. There are many varieties of beige, from warm to cool with a hint of grey, so you can choose the one suitable for almost any complexion.

Beige, like the above-mentioned colours, occur in nature and it is a general trend that we have been observing for several years. The pandemic has greatly strengthened this, so for several years we have seen great popularity of bohemian style weddings. That's why we focus on warm colours, pastels, and this year we will see more bold ones, more saturated with colour. All famous drapers offer in 2024 new collections with simple, strong colours. It is worth mentioning here “A World of Colours” by Loro Piana, “Serge & Solana” by Holland & Sherry or “Vanitas” by Carnet.

The main rule of suits in bold tones is to avoid patterns. Due to its unorthodox shade, the fabric does not need any additional accessories. In this case, less is more and the ensemble in a plain fabric will remain elegant. However, you can choose fabrics with a more interesting texture, such as wool and linen blends, which we will talk about in the next blog.

Another method to break the simplicity of the material is a herringbone weave, which gives it a unique character with slightly visible stripes. A beautiful variation of this type of weaving is the Solaro material. Solaro is a woollen fabric usually in beige and red. Originally, Solaro was created for the uniforms of British soldiers stationed in tropical countries, and the red thread in the weft was supposed to make it resistant to UV rays. The different colours of threads in warp and weft gave the specificity of Solaro fabric that changes colour depending on the intensity and angle of sunlight. Depending on the colour variation, it comes in various shades, from the most famous red to brown, beige, green and even blue. It is a real chameleon among fabrics. Although traditionally this material is beige and red, today we come across various variations, ranging from pink through blue to green. Solaro is a fabric created for summer, it is light and airy, so it is perfect for summer weddings. For the 2024 season, Loro Piana has introduced a separate “Solaro” collection with a beautiful colour palette that will surely interest future grooms.

All mentioned collections are now available in our boutique, so we invite future grooms for a consultation. Choosing the right fabric is not easy, and the colours must be appropriately matched to the complexion, wedding style and even cut of the bride's dress. It is worth preparing to purchase such a suit well in advance.
